Surf Checks and Waves at Currumbin
Hey, I’m Pat, and if there’s one thing I can’t get enough of, it’s surfing at Currumbin. This spot has become my go-to for starting the day right – a quick ride down on my e-bike to check the surf, and if the waves are good, I’m straight into the water. I thought I’d share a little about why this simple routine is something I look forward to every day.
The Perfect Start with a Surf Check
I’ll admit, I’m a little obsessed with my e-bike. It’s an absolute game-changer for getting around, especially when you want to hit the beach early before the crowds show up. There’s something about hopping on the bike as the sun’s just coming up, with the cool morning air and the quiet streets – it’s like the place is just waking up with you. Plus, the ride along the coast to Currumbin is incredible, with the ocean on one side and the stunning views of the Gold Coast skyline in the distance.
The best part? I don’t have to worry about parking, which can be a pain when everyone’s flocking to the beach later in the morning. I can roll right up to the sand, get a quick look at the waves, and decide if today’s the day to paddle out or wait a bit for the tide to change. The e-bike gives me that freedom to just go with the flow, and it keeps the whole process easy and fun.
Currumbin: My Favourite Surf Spot
Currumbin’s known for its laid-back vibe and some of the best waves on the Gold Coast, and for me, there’s no better place to catch a few. The spot is really versatile, with waves that suit everyone, from beginners to seasoned surfers. I usually hit the Alley – that’s the point break near Currumbin Rock. On a good day, it’s magic. The waves roll in beautifully, and you can get some nice long rides, which is what I’m all about.
One of the reasons I love Currumbin is that it’s more than just a surf spot – it’s a community. You get to know the regulars pretty quickly, and there’s a sense of respect in the water. Everyone’s there for the same reason: to enjoy the waves and the lifestyle that comes with it. It’s always a good vibe, whether you’re out there with a crowd or have the place almost to yourself.
My Routine: Surf, Chill, Repeat
After checking the surf, I usually don’t waste much time getting out there if the conditions look right. There’s something so freeing about being in the water first thing in the morning, with the sun just breaking over the horizon. It’s a great way to clear my head and get a bit of exercise – nothing beats the rush of catching a good wave, feeling that connection with the ocean, and then paddling back out to do it all over again.
Once I’ve had my fill of waves (or my arms are too tired to paddle anymore!), I’ll ride back along the coast, grab a coffee, and relax. Currumbin has some awesome little cafes around, so there’s no shortage of spots to kick back and enjoy the rest of the morning. By the time I’m done, I feel like I’ve already had a full day – and it’s not even 9 a.m.
Why I Love This Routine
Honestly, starting my day like this just sets the tone. It’s a way to reconnect with what I love – the surf, the ocean, the relaxed vibe of Currumbin. Riding my e-bike there adds this extra layer of freedom and convenience that I never got driving, and it just makes the whole experience more fun. It’s eco-friendly, too, which is a nice bonus.
If you’re a surfer or even just a fan of coastal living, I’d definitely recommend trying an e-bike surf check. Currumbin might be my favorite spot, but there are so many great beaches along the Gold Coast that are perfect for this. Get out there, ride the coast, check the surf, and enjoy everything this amazing place has to offer.
